APSS Announces Client Scholarship Recipients

COLUMBUS, OHIO (July 26, 2017) – Alert Public Safety Solutions (APSS), today announced the winners of the APSS Users Educational Scholarship.  As part of the 5th year of the APSS Users Symposium and since the inception of the APSS Software Advisory Board (SAB), APSS has committed to continuing the education of its user base.  The APSS Gives Back committee conceived the idea of awarding two educational scholarships to attend the annual APSS Users Symposium.  APSS Users Symposium scholarship is designed to increase the impact of the users’ symposium to attendees, as well as promoting future leaders within our client’s organizations. APSS truly feels the developing of our users is an investment in the future.

The first awardee is from Willard, Ohio and is public safety telecommunicator for the City of Willard Police Department, Communications Division.  Ashley Maurer, has been using the APSS Product Suite for two years and aspires to be the Lead Dispatcher for the city and assisting in Telecommunicator and Officer training within her own department and to share the knowledge with her neighboring public safety professionals throughout Huron County.  Ashley has taken a lead in learning the APSS software and is taking an active role in the APSS SAB committees.  Ashley believes that customer service is most important to that of the residents she assists and knows that trained users of the software aid in the safety of her fellow public safety professionals. Ashley was recommended by Willard Police Chief, Shannon Chaffins who stated, “She made an immediate positive impact on our city. Her expectations of performance and professionalism of herself and others has brought improvements to every aspect of the agency.”

The second awardee from Norwalk, Ohio and is a public safety telecommunicator and administrative assistant for the City of Norwalk, Division of Police.  Tacy Bond, has been in the field of public safety of 20 years, with 18 years as a public safety telecommunicator before transitioning to the administrative assistant position.  Tacy takes and active role in dispatcher training, policy and procedure implementation, and customer satisfaction.  Tacy is an APSS Product Suite user of 7 years and has taken an active role in her agencies oversight of the Communication Division as well as Public Safety Telecommunicator Training.  Tacy was recommended by Jason Roblin, Director of Huron County EMA stating, “Her (Tacy’s) input and workload is very important to the success of our county wide CAD system; much more important than she will ever give herself credit.”

This being the first APSS Educational Scholarship award ever awarded, and conceived, we are honored to announce our awardees.  APSS remains a user driven custom software solution and this is part of that commitment.  APSS SAB Gives Back committee reviewed each application, and accompanying letter of recommendation and scored the results on set criteria of:

  • Contributions to Public Safety Profession
  • Employer recommendation
  • Five – ten year goals
  • Training and educational sharing plan

These two candidates scored the highest and were recommended by their APSS User Group peers to be worthy of the scholarship award, meeting all of the criteria set forth in the application.

APSS congratulates each of them and will recognize each of that at the annual APSS Users Group meeting at the 2017 APSS Users Symposium in Orlando, Florida this October.  The communities in which these public safety telecommunicators serve should be proud of their commitment, professionalism, and desire to enhance public safety in their community through the use of public safety software.  Congratulations to each of them from their own #APSSFamily.
